Another question from a customer that, I thought, could be useful for some people:
"
Do you market a temperature controller with a proportional output at mains voltages capable of handling 5 amps?
We require the current to be continuous, varying only to adjust the temperature. It is for an air heater with a low thermal mass so we require continuous proportional control, a simple on/off type (relay
output) would be clicking away all the time with consequent fluctuations in air temperature.

We understand that you need a temperature controller with an output capable of handling 5A at main voltage. This output needs to be able to cope with consequent fluctuations in air temperature.

The problem you are describing is common to us. You are right in saying that a normal relay would be "clicking away". The solution is to use a Solid State Relay that does not have any moving parts.

By using a Solid State Relay (SSR) with high-speed switching cycles of better than 20ms, without any moving parts enables us to simulate continuous current control.

We have offered a suitable controller

and Solid State Relay to switch a single-phase air heater with a rating of up to 25A.
